Ash Arlen Joins Rip City Basketball in Coaching and Operations Role
Rip City Basketball is thrilled to announce the appointment of Ash Arlen to a key coaching and operations role within the club.
Arlen, from Cascade, Iowa, brings a wealth of international basketball experience back to the Sunshine Coast where she will join a coaching team focused on holistic player development.
Arlen’s impressive career began with college basketball at Iowa State University and Wayne State College. She then embarked on a professional journey that took her to Romania, Spain, Germany, England, Sweden, and Australia. Notably, she played NBL1 seasons with Rip City in 2022 and most recently with the Darwin Salties.
In her new role, Arlen will add depth to Rip City’s highly qualified and respected team of coaches.
She will lead the girls’ program for the club, including the Girls Got Game program and working with Rip City Coaching Director Warwick Wilson, to coach identified talented athletes in a new Performance Academy starting in Term 4.
Additionally, Arlen will serve as the Head Coach for the U16 girls’ representative team.
“I can’t wait to get back to the Coast,” Arlen said. “I’m excited to get back to Rip and be part of the community and the Rip family that were so welcoming to me when I played there.
“Get ready girls! I’m coming for you. We’re going to be working hard but it’s going to be a lot of fun too!”
Rip City President Jason Brooks expressed his enthusiasm about Arlen’s new role especially as it will reinvigorate a focus on player development in particular as a mentor for girls.
“To have Ash guiding our girls’ program is exciting for the club. The Rip City juniors have a great opportunity to learn from someone that has been there, done that when it comes to what so many of them aspire to do with their basketball.
“Especially our girls, they will have an inspiring leader and coach in Ash. We’re excited to see where she will take our girls’ program as we believe there’s great potential at Rip and this will just see the development of our players go from strength to strength.”
Stay tuned for more details on the Performance Academy, which will be officially announced soon.
