UniSC Rip City women picked up their second win
The UniSC Rip City women picked up their second win over the weekend in dominating fashion against the Red City Roar.
Led by another outstanding performance from forward Carlie Smith (25 points and 15 rebounds) the Rip Women secured the 18 point win to take their first road victory of the season.
Stephanie Bairstow finished the game with 15 points and 7 rebounds while Meagan Mullings contributed 14 points and 6 rebounds as well.
The Rip women did a good job to dominate inside where their clear advantage was on the evening. This week will be a completely different story as Rockhampton comes to the Sunshine Coast for a Saturday clash.
Rockhampton are led by American import Samantha Bowman (21.6 points per game and 19.6 rebounds per game) and WNBL player Lara McSpadden (20 points per game and 12.5 rebounds per game.)
Lauren Heard rounds out the scoring for the Cyclones big three with 15.6 points per game and chipping in with 7.3 rebounds per game, as well.
The Cyclones come into Saturday night’s game with a 2-1 record. The Rip City women will have to match the physicality of the Cyclones on Saturday night and attack their bigs, putting pressure on them to defend without fouling and making them work at both ends of the floor.
The Rip City women will face off against the Rockhampton Cyclones this Saturday at UniSC stadium at 5:30pm. Catch the women live or on the NBL1 livestream.
