UniSC Rip City men are coming off a solid win

The UniSC Rip City men are coming off a solid win over a high scoring Rockhampton Rockets team last Saturday 94-84.

Forward Corey Shervill carried the heavy lifting on the offensive end most of the night with outstanding shooting on his way to a 24 point, 11 rebound performance.

Brandon Wood closed out the game with 26 points himself and Matt Kenyon was a force all over the floor, filling up the stat sheet with a 16 point, 10 rebound, 8 assist performance.

Louis Ilton was exceptional once again on the defensive end on Rockhampton’s premier scoring options, forcing them into tough shooting nights that kept the Rockets well below their scoring average on the season.

The men look forward to a matchup with the Northside Wizards who are also loaded with offensive talent. Bullet’s import and former NBA forward Andrew White III leads the charge for the Wizards, including a 46 point outburst in round 1.

Cameron Healy chips in with 20 points per game before Brisbane Bullet forward, Lual Diing’s 17 points and 11 rebounds rounds out the main punch for the Wizards.

Former Rip City player and Perth Wildcat, Kyle Zunic is not expected to be active for the Wizards this weekend, while Deshawn Ross-Paiwan averages 12 points per game.

The return of Kouat Noi to the lineup is always exciting, however looking forward to a relatively thin and inexperienced front line for the Wizards would suggest a big performance from the 2022 NBL1 North MVP.

Look for the men to go inside early and often to exploit those matchups.

Defensively, it will be important to keep White III under wraps and the Wizards out of transition where Lual Diing, in particular, excels.

You can watch the men down at Northside or on the NBL1 livestream this Saturday at 7pm!
